Freida Pinto doesn’t believe in fashion trends.The ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘ actress refuses to wear clothes just because they are popular, instead opting for items she is ‘comfortable’ in even if they are not the height of fashion.

She explained: ‘I don’t think there is such a thing as trends. I think anything that’s comfortable and doesn’t make me look hideous is good.’Despite refusing to bow to pressure when it comes to her wardrobe, the 24-year-old star admits there is one aspect of her style she must get to grips with.

Freida explained: ‘I need to sort my shoe wardrobe out. I have too many high heels – I end up getting backache from them. I need to get some lower heels and I need to get more colours in there too.’I planned to use my first big pay cheque to buy a pair of Jimmy Choos – but recently I’ve been send things I said I always wanted, and they gave me a pair before I had the chance to buy them!’

Although Freida refuses to bow to Hollywood pressure on how she should look, she admits watching her weight before she has to walk the red carpet.She told Britain’s InStyle magazine: ‘I used to be overly critical of myself, but I don’t do that anymore.

Before an event though, I stay off oil for at least five days. But sometimes it’s impossible to get home-cooked food when you’re travelling, which is the only problem. I don’t go to the gym, but I’m going to start.’
